Habanarte 2014: The best of Cuban Contemporary Art

Habanarte 2014 will become Havana, next September, an excellent art gallery, with the arriving of the Biennial. The main artists of the Visual Arts in Cuba will be taking part in this great Festival of Arts exhibiting the best of contemporary art carrying out at the present time in Cuba.
According to Fernando Rojas, Vice-Minister of Culture and President of the Organizing Committee of this huge event that will take place from September 11to 21: "during these days, all museums, galleries and workshops will open their doors for those accredited, not only to watch or buy the artworks, but they also have the opportunity to see the process of artistic creation and production" in our country.

Cuban Singer-songwriter, Diana Fuentes, is a leader within the flourishing generation of performers and musicians under the flag of new Cuban music. As a result, the songstress positioned herself in the music industry with the release of her second album, Planeta Planetario (available August 12th on Sony Latin). This project was a joint artistic collaboration with renowned Puerto Rican musician and producer, Eduardo Cabra (Visitante Calle 13), member of the critically acclaimed band Calle 13. The esteemed producer, who is responsible for Calle 13's distinctive sound, gave life to Diana's artistic and past experiences through the rhythm they created: thus, building a remarkably unique planet.

London Globe Theatre to Perform in Cuba in August

On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the birth of English writer William Shakespeare and as the main presentation this summer in Cuba, the Globe Theater of London will present two performances in this capital on August 7.
Hamlet, a classic by Shakespeare, will be the piece to be premiered at the Mella Theater by this world famous troupe, also known by its direct bond with the British playwright, who worked in this dramatic arts company.

A look at the new releases and post production films shows a wide spectrum of new trends and forms, and the coexistence of renowned directors along side the burgeoning arrival of young filmmakers whose works can be seen, for example, in spaces such as the Muestra Joven ICAIC.
