Cuba's record industry prepares – Cubadisco festival dedicated to choirs and orquestras this year

The CubaDisco International festival, organised by the Cuba Institute of Music, is a presentation of the world of recorded music in Cuba, with a commercial fair, which raises great expectations amongst musicians and the public.
The ‘Gran Coral Isla que Canta' and the Festival of Choir Music, both in April, build the momentum in the lead up to Cubadisco, one of the most anticipated musical events of the year in Cuba.
The ICM runs the ‘Gran Coral Isla que Canta' event in all provinces across the country, said the spokesperson Marta Olivera.

English National Ballet tour led by Cubans

The principal dancers Alejandro Virelles and Yonah Acosta will take on the protagonist leading roles in the classics Swan Lake, The Corsaire and Coppelia, with which the English National Ballet, directed by the Benois de la Dance prizewinner Tamara Rojo, will be touring internationally in China, Singapore and Spain.
The British company starts from Tuesday in the Chinese cities of Tianjin, Guangzhou and Beijing, it will travel to Singapore 14 to 17 May to put on its version of The Corsaire, and later Swan Lake in Barcelona. On return to the UK the English National Ballet will present the show ‘Lest we Forget' from 28-30 May.
It is a programme which received spectacular praise in 2014, for bringing together neoclassical pieces with contemporary pieces in order to, using the language of dance, get close to the human tragedy of the second world war. It consisted of pieces such as No Man's Land by Liam Scarlett, and Dust by Akram Khan. Khan's piece was awarded the prize of Best Modern Choroegraphy of the Year, by the National Circle of British Critics.
