Cuban culture continues to develop, in spite of the world crisis and the US blockade

During a meeting with French and Cuban intellectuals, the Minister reviewed what has been done on the island in the cultural sector, even amid setbacks, and mentioned among the efforts the recent performance of the Royal Ballet of London in Havana.

Likewise, the top Cuban official listed the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Casa de las Américas cultural institution and the Cuban Film Institute, besides the Cubadisco and Ballet festivals, the Havana Biennial, the International Book Fair, and the memorable Peace without Borders concert.

He recalled that, regrettably, due to the US blockade and its travel ban, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra won't be able to offer its concerts in Havana, which were scheduled for October 31st and November 1st.

He denounced that such banning against the prestigious orchestra is another sign showing that the siege against Cuba has not changed on the main points.

Also participating in the meeting were, among other personalities, Orlando Requeijo and Hector Hernandez, ambassadors of Cuba in France and before UNESCO, respectively.
