Georgina Rey, Renowned Cuban Urban Planner Receives 2015 National Architecture Prize

The name of the winner of the prize given by the Association of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuba was announced on Tuesday during a press conference in Havana, at the Association's building.

Rey, with more than 40 years of work, also a professor of the San Geronimo de La Habana University Collage, has won a long list of national and international prizes, and worked for several years as director of the Institute of Physical Planning on the island.

Although already retired, the author of the texts Centro Habana: un futuro sustentable and El Barrio de Colon: rehabilitacion urbana y desarrollo comunitario de La Habana, said that this prize gives her more energy to continue working for the perfecting and development of urban planning in the nation.

The prize will be officially handed over during a meeting to mark Cuban Architect Day, to be held in Camagüey on March 13.
