Suslaidys Giralt finished the women's 100m sprint in 11.99 seconds, while her colleague Yeisel Abad crossed the finished line in 11.06 in the same event for men, the head of the sports delegation reported to ACN via email.
According to the report, another Cuban, Juan Cardenas ended ninth in the men's race, while Diosnel Diaz, also from the island, marked 3:58.00 min in the 1,500m for the fifth place.
Other Cubans competing on Thursday were Alexei Perez in high jump (1.85 meters) and Giralt in long jump (5.96 meters). Both of them qualified for the finals scheduled for Friday.
Diaz will run on the 800m semifinals, while Giralt, Cardenas and Abad, will participate in the 200m preliminary and Yunier Llabre in the triple jump qualifying.
