Young Artists Condemn US Economic Blockade

The action, entitled "Manos contra el Bloqueo" (Hands against the blockade), young artists and population in general from the city of Ciego de Avila left an imprint of their hands in paint on a mural to condemn the presidential directive recently announced by President Donald Trump against the Cuban people.

The President of the AHS in the region, Oristela Perez Betanzos, said that all creative activities are affected by the hostile policy of the US government and that is why the cultural sector is denouncing the unjust US mechanism to pressure the Cuban people…

The "Arte Soy" festival took place 27-30 June with the participation of over 50 guests from several provinces that will hold concerts, jam sessions, theoretical meetings and public performances.

Perez Betanzos pointed out that the event marks the beginning of the activities organized by the Hermanos Saiz Association for the summer and gets together diverse expressions of young artists like theater, trova, rumba, rock and rap among others.

Among some of the guests are Ojos Teatro from Santiago de Cuba and Tiempo from Granma province, Eduardo Sosa, Noel Batista and Ramon David, Resa-k group, winner of the Cubadisco 2017 award in the category of electronic music and writers from Santiago de Cuba Oscar Cruz and Onel Perez Izaguirre.

Discussions will be held in the theoretical spaces in issues like the promotion of the social networks and hip-hop and its development in the contemporary musical scene with the presence among others, of researcher from Villa Clara Manuel Martinez Casanova, who will offer a conference entitled "Globalization and Cuban culture. Challenges for young creators".
