¡Cubanismo! bring the fire of the Havana dancefloor to London, full of swaggering horn charts and wild polyrhythms.
Led by Jesús Alemañy – a trumpeter for the legendary Son group Sierra Maestra from the age of fifteen – the group hark back to those sweet dance sessions with music from traditional Cuban rhythms through to the vintage big-band Son sound. Beginning as a recording project, the subsequent eponymous album became one of the Latin crossover albums of the ‘90s and made the Top Ten Lists of Billboard, Latin Beat and Afropop Worldwide.
This year, they reassembled as a new band to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a lineup that features Jesus Alemañy Trumpeter/Director, Alina Vila, Gilito Pinera and Evelio Galan as Singers, Gabrielito Hernandez on Piano, Pablosky Rosalez on Tres, Yassel Morejon on Bass, Jorge Luis "Papiosco" on Congas , Aris Montenegro on Bongo, Jorge Maza on Saxophone/Flute, Osmany Collado on Saxophone, Alexis Baro on Trumpet, Daniel Lopez on Trombon, and Jose Espinosa on Timbales.
