Our Marti Today – the first audiovisual project by Google in Cuba

Supported by the Office of the Historian of Havana City, the material gives a taste of the long journey of the revolutionary for the United States in the search of support and resources for the struggle for independence of the island, taking viewers through cities such as Tampa and New York.

"It is a privilege to present this modern and futurist expression which allows us to see the face of the National Hero through time, making him present with the power of his ideas, of a universal vision", expressed Dr Eusebio Leal Spengler during a presentation.

He thanked also the north American company for its mediation in the dream of replicating the New York monument "where for the first time one can see Marti 3-dimensionally sitting on his horse, at the dramatic moment of his death in Dos Rios, a work which will arrive soon in our own city, " he assured.

Only one month after signing the agreement between Google and the Cuba Telecommunications company (ETECSA), Brett Perlmutter, Director of Strategy and Operations of the US company for the Caribbean, noted that the company is very proud of the agreement which has made the creation of this film possible.

The executive added that the film will be available from today on the Google Arts & Culture platform and via the site g.co/artescubanas, which furthermore incorporates a list of literary archives and dozens of images inspired by the poetry of Marti, and also hundreds of works by Cuban artists such as Wifredo Lam, Rene Portocarrero, and Tomas Sanchez.
