Alicia Alonso Grand Theatre of Havana

A statue of the ballerina assoluta will be placed in the theater's lobby, while the venue's main auditorium will retain its name, the Federico García Lorca Hall.

In the document approved, the Council of State notes Alonso's long career as founder and director of the Cuban National Ballet; her decisive contribution to the creation of the Cuban School of Ballet; her extraordinary prestige nationally and internationally; her contributions to dance in Cuba and around the world; as well as her tireless efforts to make this art form accessible to our entire people.

Moreover, a large part of her career as a dancer and pedagogical work is closely linked to this theater, which she directed for many years and was the scene of many of her greatest moments, which will be forever preserved in the memories of Cubans.
