The Festival presided by Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso will celebrate the 450 years of the poet's birth staging some of his works which have been transferred to ballet language.
" Dance For Shakespeare" will be the topic of this event scheduled to begin on October 28 and conclude on November 7, 2014, in the National, Mella and Kart Marx Theatres, of Havana, as main venues.
According to the organizing committee, the leading figures and chorus line of the BNC will be the leading features of the Festival, together with stars and companies invited from other countries.
Simultaneously, the Cuban company will offer courses of ballet technique for professionals, maitres and students of advanced level. Besides dancing, the public will be able to see exhibitions in different galleries, conferences, book presentations, cinema and video cycles.
A photo by Cuban designer Yailin Alfaro will be the representative poster of the 24th edition of this Festival that has over 50 years of history.
Shakespeare is considered the most important writer of the English language and the BNC has in its repertoire one of the most widely known of his Works, Romeo and Juliet with choreography of Alonso which she called Shakespeare and his masks.
