The Cuban Music World Festival Fire was scheduled for April 9, 2011 at the Homestead Speedway racetrack, 40 kilometers from the city of Miami, but the owners of the center canceled it under the pretext that the organizers had hidden information.
The event organizers denied those arguments and filed a lawsuit demanding a million USD in compensation for the losses that brought about the suspension of the event and breach of contract.
Cuban stars such as Juan Formell y Los Van Van, David Calzado y su Charanga Habanera, Buena Fe, Pachito Alonso, and Moneda Dura were supposed to participate in the Festival along with musicians from the United States.
For the American Civil Liberties Union the cancellation of the event was a violation of freedom of speech.
