The JJCE were created within Cuban communities all over the country following an idea by Fidel Castro to promote the learning of computer sciences and the training of efficient professionals in the field.
Addressing ceremony participants, JCCE National Director Raúl Van Troi said that there are an estimated 600 computer clubs across all Cuban provinces and municipalities; and spoke about the significant progress of these facilities in promoting computer learning across all sectors of Cuban society over the past 25 years.
The JCCE also collaborated with Cuban educational authorities to create the EduRed Cuban encyclopaedia, available for educational institutions across Cuba in a digital format.
Currently, the JCCE are also getting ready to participate in the upcoming elections of delegates to the Cuban Municipal Assemblies, Van Troi continued.
The ceremony also served to pay tribute to JCCE founders and outstanding workers in all provinces, the eastern Cuban provinces of Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila and Holguín being the leaders.
Attending the activities marking the 25th anniversary of JCCE's creation were Silvia Munárriz and Boris Moreno, the Minister and Vice Minister of Informatics and Communications respectively.
