The Paralympics team came 15th in a total of 74 competing countries, with a total of 19 medals – 9 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze. Their best result yet since first competing in the Paralympics in 1992, gaining more gold medals than many much richer European countries. They acheived 7 golds in athletics with the Queen of Speed Yunidis Castillo, who broke the 12 second barrier in the 100m (T46) and set a world record at 11.95 seconds and went on to win 3 gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m.
