Cuban writer Leonardo Padura to receive the 2011 Literary Critics Award

The Literary Critic Award is conferred in the island to the most important titles by living authors which have been published by Cuban Editorial houses and it is organised by the Instituto Cubano del Libro (Cuban Book Institute).

"El hombre que amaba a los perros" was published in Spain in 2009 by Tusquets and it was published in Cuba by "Ediciones Uniَn", the Cuban Association of Writers and Artists´ Publishing House last February.

During a presentation at the International Book Fair of Havana, last February, Padura affirmed that the commercial promotion of his novel in the island broke "myths" because some people thought the book won´t be published in Cuba due to its plot.
