The tour, organized by Cuban actor Jorge Perugorria (Strawberry and Chocolate), took her to Santa Clara, Cienfuegos, Camaguey, Gibara and Bayamo.
CuCu Diamantes became widely known in Cuba after participating in the Peace without Borders Concert held November 2009 in Havana.
After living in Italy where she studied art, the charismatic New York-based singer reaped great success with the fusion band Yerba Buena founded in 2001 by Venezuelan songwriter Andres Levin and Diamantes. The group features a blend of African-rooted Latin music (Cuban Rumba, Colombian cumbia, Pan-Caribbean Soca, and Cuban Boogaloo) and it was nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2003 for the album President Alien.
In 2009 she started her solo career with the launching of her debut album Cuculand for which she wrote all the lyrics featuring a vaudeville style she acquired before Yerba Buena was founded, when she danced in New York bars to make a living.
Cuculand was top of the list of downloads in Tunes latino, coming before super productions by multinational labels (Pitbull, Wisin & Yandel).
