Gonzalez was hot on the heels of Italy´s Giorgia Bronzini, who held on to win her first world title in the event.
Britain's Elizabeth Armitstead picked up the bronze, after toppling Chinese Wang Cui who was runner-up until the last lap. Gonzalez had won the scratch event earlier in the week.
Another Cuban, Lisandra Guerra, raced for a prize in the women´s 500-meter time trial, won by Lithuania´s Simona Krupeckaite with a world record.
The track cycling world championships ended yesterday. Australia topped the medal table with 10, including four golds. France took home six medals, three of them gold. Britain, which cleaned up at the 2008 worlds and Beijing Olympics, took home nine medals
