29 January 2018 - 27 March 2018
CineCuba is a film club open to all on the last Monday of the month (excl. bank holidays), upstairs at The Calthorpe Arms, 252 Grays Inn Rd, WC1X 8JR.

Monday 29 January, 7.30pm: ‘To Dance Like A Man' The tale of 3 boys, identical triplets, who all aspire to dance in the National Ballet of Cuba. The importance given to dance in Cuba and gender balance are clear messages. With special guests, the film's director, Sylvie Collier, and from the Cuban Embassy.
Monday 26 February, 7.30pm: ‘Maestra' (dir. Catherine Murphy). The 1961 Cuban Literacy Campaign dramatically changed Cuba's literacy levels in one year, organizing over 100,000 volunteers - over half of who were women - to teach in the rural areas of the country. This is the uplifting story of nine of these women.
Monday 26 March, 7.30pm: ‘Guantanamera' (1995) dir. Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Juan Carlos Tabío. Another wonderful satirical Cuban feature at which both directors excel. A funeral procession across the country induces unexpected emotions and consequences.
