London Latin Jazz Fest

17 October 2017 - 21 October 2017

London Latin Jazz Festival this Autumn is in the heart of Soho and curated by the super talented Eliane Correa with lots of fantastic Cuban musicians/Cuban music fusions and collaborations including:

Tuesday, 17th October
Eliane Correa & En El Aire Project + special guests

This year's guest curator opens the festival with her 8-piece project that fuses Afro-Cuban folklore with the newest London jazz/soul sound. Tipped by Gilles Peterson as one of the freshest new sounds to come out of Havana, the result is a genre-defying melting pot of sounds. An intricate, passionate and large-sounding project that features some of the UK's top Cuban and international musicians.

Wednesday, 18th October

Teotima is a 10-piece spiritual / afrolatin jazz ensemble directed by guitarist and composer Greg Sanders. Rooting its character in powerful, elegant but deceptively complex grooves from West Africa, Cuba and Brazil, and adding the sensitivity of classic American soul and funk, Teotima's rare live appearances are highly sought after and all their concerts so far have sold out in advance - so make sure to grab your ticket!

Thursday, 19th October
Osvaldo Chacón

The Cuban vocalist of international fame, whose CV includes some of Cuba's top nineties hits with Bamboleo, Paulo FG and El Médico, brings us an all-star 8-piece band of some of London's top Cuban musicians. Asides from Osvaldo's spectacular vocal versatility, expect fiery piano tumbaos originally crafted by maestro Lazarito Valdés, jazzy old-school timba horn lines and a rhythm section that will have you dancing all night!

Friday, 20th October - EARLY SHOW
Kishon Khan presents: Lokkhi Terra

From the Melas of Bangladesh to the streets of Havana and on to a bustling club in London, Lokkhi Terra is the flagship of London's multicultural musical landscape; Kishon Khan's keyboards and artistic direction allow the Bangladeshi traditional music to meld with his Cuban rhythm section to fine effect, blending Latin, Bangladeshi, funk and jazz to create something truly exceptional and surprising that will keep you grooving from beginning to end!

Friday, 20th October - LATE SHOW

Kishon Khan presents: CubAfrobeat feat. Dele Sosimi

CubAfrobeat is a groovetrain that travels between Lagos, Nigeria and Havana, Cuba. The musical conversations between the two sides of the Atlantic are led by keyboard maestros Kishon Khan and Dele Sosimi, who once was Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti's musical director, joining forces with an all-star mix of musicians from their respective projects Lokkhi Terra and Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat Orchestra. Fresh from packing out festivals over the summer and performing a sold out show at the Jazz Café, CubAfrobeat will take you on a groove trip like no other.

Saturday, 21st October - DOUBLE SHOW
Alex Wilson & Nolita Golding: Latin Soul Night

A new salsa soul star is launched: Nolita Golding, who teams up with pianist and creator of the festival Alex Wilson for a set of searing vocals, energy-packed songs plus a sprinkling of soul ballads, all wrapped in Alex's signature latin jazz piano sound with a backing band that packs a punch. Performing new material plus Alex's well-known salsa dance floor hits, these two artists will be fresh from headlining the Glastonbury Latino stage; this is a show not to be missed!
